Standing tall in the midst of what used to be miles of fox farms, the Edwin J. Nieman House has looked out over Mequon since the structure’s completion in 1929. Herman H. Bruns, the house’s architect, designed this home in the early 1920s for Erna Fromm and Edwin J. Nieman Sr. The couple moved to the Mequon-Thiensville area after their marriage in 1921, bringing with them twelve pairs of silver foxes from the Fromm fox farms in northern Wisconsin.
